After a flawlessly executed task by UAE Team Emirates, Tadej Pogacar, the man in yellow crossed the finish line of the 14th stage on the top of Pla d’Adet first.
It was clear since the breakaway group of the day formed that the teams of the GC-favourites would like to claim the day for their riders. Although the gsp between the escapees and the main bunch went up to little bit more than four minutes, the peloton was laway in controlled distance. As usual, the team of the yellow jersey many the UAE Team Emirates was setting the pace. Nils Politt did a remarkable job till the middle of the second mountain of the day.
Tourmalet was the first ascent of the day, and Oier Lazkano conquered it sprinting out David Gaudu. On the tol of hirquette de Ancizan again these two riders were the most agile, but this time Gaudu was the better.
During climbing the second ascent of the day,. Marc Soler, the next in line fro. the UAE Team Emirsres to set the pace recuced the gap dramatically. A little bit more than one minute left.
On the Pla d’Adet Ben Healy tried to reach the impossible and attacket. It woukd have been a good day for him, if there would n’t have been a cyclist called Tadej Pogacar in the peloton, who wanted fo win this stage and his teammates prepared his attack well.
First when only Joao Almeida, who was setting the pace and Adam Yates rode alongside with the leading man, the Yorkshireman attacked and destroyed all the hopes of the escapees.
When he joined Healy Pogacar attacked from the peloton and joined the Healy -Yates duo at the front sl!ostmimmediatelly. Only Komas Vingeggard and RemcomEvenepoelcxould follow him, but the latter dropped a bit later.
After the 1 km gate it was an easy ride for Pogacary he went solo and won the stage.
